Tipalea Partners are thrilled to announce that we have received rezoning and DA approval for a new retail centre in northern Victoria – Cobram Village.
Ideally located on the corner of the Murray Valley Highway and Colgan Street, Cobram Village is set to bring major national retailers to the town, with a full-line supermarket, various specialty stores, numerous food offerings, a medical centre, as well as over 400 car spaces.
“We are so excited to secure the approvals to progress Cobram Village. There is significant community demand for more retail competition and choice and the groundswell of support from locals has been amazing. Moira Shire Council has also been incredibly supportive to bring this investment, jobs and choice to Cobram and have worked closely with us to help bring our vision for Cobram Village to life,” said Scott Spanton, CEO of Tipalea Partners.
The centre will provide a significant boost to local employment with over 200 jobs set to be created during construction and a further 200 on-going jobs once Cobram Village opens. With construction planned to start in around May 2022, the aim is to open the centre In June 2023. There is a lot of work to be done in the meantime with leasing, design refinements and final approvals.
The Tipalea team are very grateful for the community support and their patience throughout this process. “The community engagement we have had over the last few years has made it clear that locals want to end the supermarket monopoly and up the ante in the local retail experience with value-adds such as parents’ rooms, kids play areas, public seating and parking that caters to disabled, elderly and parents,” Scott Spanton said.
Moira Shire Council have continued to endorse our plans for the village, which we greatly appreciate. “We are incredibly pleased to see Cobram Village secure the rezoning and what it means for the future of Cobram. The site is so prominent, and Cobram Village will become a new local landmark and gateway to the town. A development of this scale really is a game changer for employment in Moira Shire and will significantly boost local jobs during its construction and beyond,” said Mayor Libro Mustica of Moira Shire Council.
